In the present scenario, our country needs education, which should enable the students to read, write, understand, think independently; face the challenges of life and work hard sincerely. It should also create job opportunities. After getting education, the students should help in running their families and also contribute their best to the welfare of the society and the country. If they do it honestly, that itself is Kayaka Dasoha Philosophy of Education.

The Sharanabasaveshwar Vidya Vardhak Sangha, Gulbarga, which was founded in the year 1903, is named after the great mystic Saint of Deccan India, Lord Sharanabasaveshwar. It is the cardinal principle of Sharanabasaveshwar that "No religion is greater than Service" and "Service to Humanity is Service to God". This Kayaka and Dasoha Philosophy is his legacy, which is continued even today by the Peethadhipathis of Sharanabasaveshwar Samsthan.

The Sharanabasaveshwar Samsthan, which is also called as Sharanabasaveshwar Mahadasohapeetha has a long spiritual, cultural, social and educational history that represents the glorious heritage of the nation. The Philosophy of Dasoha has been the touchstone principle on which the 7th Mahadasoha Peethadhipathi of Sharanabasaveshwar Samsthan, Gulbarga, founded the Sharanabasaveshwar Vidya Vardhak Sangha. The first school of our Sangha was housed in the Dasoha Mahamane (The Spiritual Abode), where Lord Sharanabasaveshwar resided.

Centenary Years Celebrations of the Sangha

This was the proud moment, which went in golden letters in the history of the region, when His Excellency Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, president of India inaugurated the Centenary Year Celebrations of the Sangha on September 23, 2004. His appreciation of the goals and the achievements of the Sangha was heart touching. He appreciated the work taken by Poojya Dr Sharanabasawappa Appa in education, religion, literature, social reform, education of the poor and needy. His experiment in imparting science and technological education in the region. His suggestions will bring new trend and new path in the working of the sangha in the days to come. The students, teachers and people of this region were very much delighted by the speeches of His Excellency Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Hon'ble President of India and His Excellency Shri T.N.Chaturvedi, Governor of Karnataka. The students and teachers are very much proud of being part and parcel of this great unique institution of India.
